Gingerbread-Apple Upside-Down Cake
Ingredients
Cake
- 156 g flour
- 119 g boiling water
- 4.60 g soda
- 110 g brown sugar
- 2.30 g cinnamon
- 3.60 g ginger
- 68 g melted butter
- 169 g molasses
- 50 g egg, beaten
Filling
- 68 g Tree Top Evaporated Apple Pie Pieces
- 178 g Tree Top Apple Juice
- 55 g brown sugar
- 28 g butter
- .57 g cinnamon
Directions
Filling:
Gently boil apple pieces in water/apple juice in covered pan for 5 minutes. Drain, reserving liquid. Mix sugar and cinnamon in reserved liquid and cook until sugar is dissolved. Add butter. Dip apple pieces in syrup and arrange in bottom of 8″ x 8″ baking dish.
Cake:
Sift dry ingredients together. Combine melted butter, beaten egg, molasses and water. Add dry ingredients to liquid mixture and beat well. Pour batter over apples in pan. Bake about 45 minutes.
